Works of Art

To appreciate the arts of the Subcontinent one has to also look at the elegant objects and works of art which were produced for the highly demanding domestic market as well as the works of art made for export during the 16th to the 19th century. We handle objects made for the Royal courts of India as well as pieces specifically commissioned for the European market. An example for this globalised market are the intricately inlaid ivory caskets that were made in Gujarat for the demands of the European clientele in the late 17th and early 18th century.
